My second novel, The Star-Crossed Pelican, was released yesterday. It’s a sequel to The Cosmic Turkey, though I wrote them to work as standalones. It’s about a teenager, Janet Delane, who accidentally became a spaceship captain. Like me, Janet seems jinxed when around technology, to the point where her ex calls her “Jam-it.” The current adventure involves power-hungry avians, reality television, a robot uprising, curling (no, the sport), and an interplanetary dating service, as Janet and her misfit crew must save the galaxy once again. (And for those who follow the Write On community diary, I threw in a little Easter egg, naming a character Grebe.) Sneak peeks at the first chapter of each book are available on my website. And in the unlikely event that you’ve ever wondered what kind of alien you’d be in the Cosmic Turkey universe, there’s a quiz.
I’m every bit as jazzed and in awe as I was the first time around. Seeing my name on the cover is really overwhelming. Real people who’ve never met me still want to read my silly stories. Life is good.

In Laura Clawson’s front-page diary “Taylor Swift is Time’s person of the year, and the far right is big mad,” Torn and Frayed in LA makes an important clarification.
